Special Applications Business focuses on complete systems approach

STURTEVANT, WI (August 10, 2009) – Putzmeister America, Inc.’s Special Applications Business (SAB) announces its partnership between Allentown Shotcrete Technology, Inc., Esser Pipe Technology and Milwaukee-based Maxon Industries, Incorporated (Maxon). The result of this partnership is a complete systems approach that offers all products to all projects in the tunnel and mining, dams and power generation, transportation, and marine and offshore industries.

SAB is the combination of four separate divisions including the concrete products division (CPD), Putzmeister underground concrete (PUC), pre-cast applications (PCA) and large infrastructure projects (Civil).

“We re-vamped our overall approach with customers and their projects to maintain our high customer satisfaction and status as the global leader in concrete and material placing technology,” says Bill Carbeau, director of both SAB and Allentown. “Our complete systems approach includes constant contact with the customer from the estimating stages of a project, to working with customers on delivery times, customizing confidential solutions for unique scenarios, service, parts and training, as well as maintenance of equipment.

“Partnering with Maxon was a no-brainer because they’ve been a well-respected, dependable industry consultant for years. Combining their line of equipment with Putzmeister’s, Allentown’s and Esser’s benefits the customer and us.”

Maxon designs and manufactures concrete handling equipment for transporting, remixing and placing concrete, shotcrete, RCC and grout. The company’s full line of equipment includes Agitors, Maxcretes, Travel mixers, Agimaxes and Techcrete.

“Working alongside Maxon will be a tremendous growth opportunity within the civil project sector,” adds Carbeau. “In addition, Maxon’s Agitor is already well-known around the world.”

The SAB group specialists include:
• Bill Carbeau (Group leader, Putzmeister and Allentown) - long distance and underground concreting
• Bill Maxon (Maxon) – systems transportation
• Bob Weiglein (Telebelt® division manager) – Telebelt and belt delivery
• Patrick Bridger (Allentown’s president) – shotcrete and underground applications
• Goran Vujasinovic (International Telebelt Sales Manager) – civil and overland systems

A project that showcases SAB in action is the Army Corp GIWW Bypass Gate project in Louisiana. Equipment provided by SAB includes two MX 34/38 placing booms, two BSA 1409 concrete pumps and two Maxcrete mixers, which are all mounted on a barge with piping, cleanout and a diversion valve.

“The Army Corp project is a perfect example of how the SAB is working together to provide a complete systems approach to the customer,” says Carbeau.
