STURTEVANT, Wis. (February 20, 2006) – Putzmeister America is the first and only manufacturer to achieve a Concrete Pump Manufacturers Association (CPMA) safety certification within the truck-mounted concrete boom pump product category.

An audited achievement, the CPMA certification recognizes Putzmeister America as being in full compliance with the most current version of its 27-2000 Safety Standard. As the CPMA criteria bears close similarities with the newly-released ASME B30.27-2005 Safety Standard, CPMA audited approval also assumes compliance with ASME’s new benchmark long before its effective date of October 22, 2006.

Achieving CPMA certification requires a detailed audit by an independent third-party auditor with ANAB accreditation encompassing an exhaustive safety checklist for each section within the standard. To maintain compliance, subsequent audits per product family must be meticulously performed every 24 months.

Jim Bury, Engineering Manager at Putzmeister America says, “Compared to other concrete placing products and systems, the boom pump audit is the most comprehensive and difficult to pass. However, we were determined to set the benchmark in attaining 100% compliance with these important safety standards.”

“Although not required in any standard,” Bury adds, “Putzmeister America continues to stability-load and cycle test each and every concrete boom pump prior to customer delivery. This further demonstrates our commitment to product safety.”

CPMA was initiated by concrete pump and systems manufacturers to formalize a guideline for the design, manufacture, testing, safe use, inspection and maintenance of concrete pumps for the North American market. Its formally documented safety standard was developed to prevent accidents due to unsafe products and practices. As the CPMA Safety Standard auditing program gains momentum, all pumps and pumping systems that comply will be recognized by a CPMA “certified” safety seal.
