Putzmeister's new 38X-Meter boom pump is the industry's most powerful truck-mounted pump on three axles. It can place 260 cubic yards (200 cubic meters) of concrete per hour with a 20H pump cell, which is one of four different pumps available with the 38X-Meter unit.

The industry's most powerful pump on three axles

Putzmeister America unveils the new Putzmeister 38X-Meter, the most powerful concrete boom pump on three axles in the industry.

"The 38X-Meter is in direct response to requests from our dealers and customers for a boom pump this size with power to match," said Tom Teubel , vice president of sales and marketing. "Because of the existing demand for this unit, we drew upon Putzmeister's design expertise and technology and, in a joint effort with our dealers, accelerated the product-development time."

This new truck-mounted boom pump can place 260 cubic yards (200 cubic meters) of concrete per hour with a .20H pump cell, which is one of four different pumps available with the 38X-Meter unit. It is equipped with a 5-inch delivery line throughout, a trademark Putzmeister pump advantage.

The 38X-Meter has a four-section boom that extends 124 feet (38 m) vertically, which is approximately the height of a 12-story building. "The vertical reach is essential for contractors involved in high-rise building projects," said Teubel.

According to Bill Toal, chief economist for the Portland Cement Association, office construction will maintain its current level if not increase. It enjoyed an increase of more than 11 percent in 1999 and is expected to continue to rise because of low vacancy rates.

Public construction is also growing and is expected to rise 5.5 percent in 2000. This is due in part to the Transportation Equity Act, which earmarked $217 billion for roads, bridges and mass transit, not counting matching state funds. Contractors working on bridge projects will appreciate the 38X-Meter's horizontal reach of 111 feet (34 m).

Another significant advantage of the 38X-Meter is its light weight. With a gross vehicle weight of 55,000 pounds (25,000 kg), the unit has additional payload capacity without exceeding the weight limit for three-axle vehicles. In addition, the new unit has compact 20-foot 8-inch (6.3 m) front outriggers. This small footprint allows operators to easily set up in tight spaces.

The 38X-Meter is part of the largest new-product introduction in Putzmeister America's history. Nine new products are being introduced at WOC 2000, with more expected during the year.
