Company recognized at annual German-American Chamber of Commerce Gala Event

STURTEVANT, Wis. (April 8, 2005) – The Chicago chapter of the German-American Chamber of Commerce (GACCoM) presented Putzmeister America with the esteemed MERLIN Award at its fifth annual gala April 7, 2005. Also honored at the event were Keiper Enterprises, Edscha North America and FTE Automotive USA.

Named after one of the founders of the German-American Chamber of Commerce, Peter H. Merlin, Honorary Director GACCoM, this award honors companies located in the Midwest and Germany for their exceptional achievements in German-American business.

GACCoM members nominate companies that offer a unique product, innovative service or breakthrough technology, or feature exemplary international business practices and consistently creative management. A group of independent judges who are members of the German American community decide on which companies should receive the award.

Dave Adams, President and CEO of Putzmeister America accepted the award on behalf of the company. He said, “It is indeed an honor for our company to be nominated, and an even greater accomplishment to be selected as an award recipient.”

Approximately 300 top executives from the German-American Business community throughout the Midwest and their guests attended the event at the Chicago Hilton Hotel.

Putzmeister America is the North American division of one of the world’s leading heavy equipment manufacturers, Putzmeister AG of Stuttgart, Germany. Comprising 16 manufacturing and sales operations around the globe, the Putzmeister organization employs more than 2,300 people and generates over $700 million in annual sales.

Karl Schlecht, chairman of the board, founded Putzmeister in 1958. With his German entrepreneurial spirit, he initially developed smaller plastering machines and gradually evolved into large truck-mounted equipment. Today, the company leads in innovation with the most technologically advanced products on the market, including the world’s largest boom pump for placing concrete at amazing heights over 200-ft tall.

In 1982, Putzmeister officially entered the US market with a California-based operation for marketing its core products. In 1994, a new manufacturing facility was built in Wisconsin for a more strategic Midwest location. Since then, the Putzmeister America facility has grown to over 200,000-sq. ft. in size along with significant increases in personnel, product developments, and market share dominance.

Specializing in concrete and material placing equipment, Putzmeister America now offers a full line of truck-mounted concrete pumps, separate placing booms, truck-mounted telescopic conveyors, and trailer-mounted concrete pumps. In addition, the company provides a diverse range of mortar, grout, shotcrete, plaster and fireproofing pumps and mixers, industrial pumps, high-pressure cleaning equipment, and tunneling machinery.

US-based facilities for manufacturing, sales, parts and service are in Sturtevant, Wisconsin with customer support operations in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Santa Fe Springs, California.
