Putzmeister America Announces Proportional Controls on its Cable Remote System

The smoothness of proportionality now available on cable remotes for new and existing concrete placing equipment

STURTEVANT, Wisconsin (August 1, 2005) – Effective the latter part of fourth quarter 2005, proportional cable remotes will be standard on all Putzmeister BSF boom pump models up to 63 Meters; and effective in January 2006, they will be standard on all Telebelts® shipped from the company’s Wisconsin manufacturing facility. The new system can also be incorporated on various Putzmeister units already in the field.

“Similar to our advanced radio remote technology, the proportional cable remote offers smoother operation and more precise positioning of booms” says Jonathan Omer, Putzmeister’s Marketing Manager. “The feather-touch operation is especially noticeable when maneuvering larger booms and is a significant improvement over the present black and white cable version, which operates at full speed whenever activated.”

Produced by HBC Germany, the proportional cable remote system was meticulously field-tested in the United States and then further fine-tuned for the North American market. Unlike other proportional systems, all functions are completely independent so if the standard proportional radio remote malfunctions, the cable remote is still fully operational.

The cable remote control box is similar in operation to a radio remote as it features an almost identical faceplate with matching joystick controls and switches. This results in a user-friendly approach to operating a unit if switching from radio to cable remote. The only major difference will be a cable attached to the control box versus a transmitter. Cable lengths remain the same at 130-ft for all concrete boom pump models up to 47 Meters; 165-ft for the 52Z, 58 and 63Z-Meter models; and 100-ft for all Telebelts®.

For more information on the feasibility of upgrading an existing system, owners can contact the Putzmeister Customer Support Department toll-free at (800) 890-0269. For added convenience in ordering the upgrade, proportional cable remote part numbers are listed below:
• A 4-section Putzmeister boom pump with a 24-volt ergonomic black and white cable remote (part #404994) can be replaced with a new proportional cable (part #A053269).
• A 5-section Putzmeister boom pump with a 24-volt ergonomic black and white cable remote (part #406763) can be replaced with a new proportional cable (part #A053270).
• All Telebelt® conveyors with a standard Putzmeister black and white cable version (part #A383034) can be replaced with a new 12-volt proportional cable (part #A053271).

Almost a decade ago, Putzmeister led the industry in announcing proportional “radio” remote controls as standard on the company’s core lineup of boom pumps, and this feature still applies to all Putzmeister BSF models from 24 meters up to the world’s largest boom pump at 63 meters.
