Putzmeister America announced the introduction of a new line of Thom-Katt trailer pumps, the TKB Series. Designed primarily for the residential market, the TKB 30 and TKB 45 pump 30 and 45 yd3 (23 and 35 m3) of concrete per hour, respectively, and are ideal for stem walls, patios, garages, sidewalks, masonry grouting and many other applications.
The two models are Putzmeister's first hydraulic ball-valve pumps, and are ideal machines for contractors entering the concrete pumping business. According to Dave Adams, vice president of engineering and manufacturing, both machines feature a simple, low maintenance design. "The nitrogen surge chamber and tie rod design contain fewer wear parts, and this means more dependability and longer operating hours between service," said Adams. He added that the machines also feature new, easy-access service points.
Another advantage of the new Putzmeister pump construction is a smooth, surge-free delivery of concrete. This is accomplished with larger diameter and longer stroke cylinders. The TKB 30 and TKB 45 pumps are also powered by 57- and 72-horsepower (43 and 54 kW) air-cooled Deutz diesel engines, respectively. In addition, both machines feature a 4-inch (100 mm) diameter outlet, yet easily pump through 2-inch (50 mm) hoses – which are used on many job sites.
The new TKB 30 and TKB 45 trailer pumps will be available in the second quarter of 1999.
